Moving Files from a Campus Edition Course to a Vista Section Using WebDAV
 
Basic Procedure for Mac OSX Users:
   
1. Install Goliath, a program to enable your Mac to access and change aspects in a WebDav folder. Download the application file at http://www.webdav.org/goliath/. Then access your WebCT Campus Edition course.
   
2. Create a folder or set of folders on your computer's hard drive for organizing and storing the files from your Campus Edition course.
   
3. Using Goliath, drag files from the Campus Edition course to the folders on your computer.
   
4. Create a connection in Goliath for your Vista section.
   
5. Using Goliath, drag the Campus Edition files on your computer to the Vista section Goliath folder.
             
Detailed Instructions:
             
Step 1 - Installing Goliath and Accessing Your WebCT Campus Edition Course
   
1. Copy the WebDAV address
           
  a. Log in to WebCT Campus Edition     
     
  b. Click on WebDAV Info link at top of screen
           
  c. Find the course, then select and copy the web address for Course Files
    (use Edit >> Copy or Ctrl + C or right-click the address and choose Copy)    
         
2. Install Goliath
         
  a. On the main webpage of Goliath, click on Download. Scroll to Mac OSX and click on the link "here." Click Save.     
         
  b. Double click on the file 'Goliath1_0_1.dmg.gz' which you just saved. This will unzip the file onto the desktop. Double click 'Goliath 1.0.1'. This will open up a Finder window with the Goliath application folder. Drag this folder to you Applications folder.
         
  c. Open the Goliath application.
 
         
 

e. Paste the WebDAV address in the box provided. Also enter your NetID in the User Name box and your password.

             
 

g. Save your connection. This will allow you to quickly connect to the WebDav folder for your course.

  
             
             

Step 2 - Create folders on your hard drive
             
1. Click on your desktop. Then click on Finder, New Folder. Name your folder something like "ENGL 111 CE" for Campus Edition Files.

Click on the new folder name and create subfolders if desired for PowerPoints or Unit 1, etc.

Step 3 - Drag files from your Campus Edition course Goliath WebDav Folder to the folders on your hard drive
             
1. Open the Goliath connection you saved for your Campus Edition WebDav folder.
             
2. Open your folder you created for your course on your computer.
             
3. Select files to move by holding down Shift key and clicking on each file.
             
4 Drag the group of selected files to the folder created for the course on your hard drive. If there are subfolders for the course, drag the files to the appropriate subfolder.
             
5. Repeat with additional groups of files.    

Step 4 - Create a Goliath Connection for your Vista Folder
   
1. Copy the WebDAV address
  Log in to Vista   
  Click on the name of class    
  Click on Build Tab   
  Click on File Manager      
  Click on "View WebDAV Info" button
 
 

Copy the address shown in the box  

Use Ctrl + C or right-click in the address area and choose copy from the menu that appears

    
       
2. Save a Goliath WebDav connection using the Vista WebDAV addresss
  Follow the directions in Step 1
  HINT: Save the connection to indicate that it is for Vista (e.g., ENGL 111 Vista)

Step 5 - Using Goliath, drag the saved Campus Edition files to the Vista Section Goliath WebDav folder.
         
1. Open your saved Campus Edition folder on your hard drive.
             
2. Open your saved Goliath connection to your Vista course.
     
3. Select the files you want to move
             
4. Drag the selected files to the Vista Goliath WebDav folder for your class.
